The following recipe is simply a guide to help those of you interested in creating your own “Complete Blend”.
25% Organic Sprouted Brown Rice Protein / Sprouted Pea Protein Powder / Sachi Inchi Protein Powder – Any one, or combination of these vegan protein powders, provides a good solid base to build your product from as a product which could be considered as nutrient dense enough to be a “meal replacement”, customers look for a quality protein base.
15% Organic Cacao Powder – raw chocolate is of course a superfood favourite which aside from adding appealing flavor has an incredible nutritional profile from it’s abundance of antioxidants, magnesium, iron, omega-6 fatty acids, through to beneficial alkaloids such as Theobromine and tryptophan.
10% Organic Mesquite Powder – traditionally used as a flour in indigenous dessert dwelling cultures, it has all the attributes of a Superfoods, boosting extraordinary levels of macro and micronutrients. It adds natural sweetness, just is very low of the GI scale, meaning it gives long lasting energy. Added to ingredients such as cacao and maca featured in this example blend, it complements them perfectly, adding richness of flavor.
10% Organic Black Chia Seeds – Excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, along with high protein and fiber content. Complete Blend is intended for the blender, so once blitzed in the blender, you don’t have to worry about your chia seeds clumping together. Rather, they add a lovely creaminess to the smoothie.
* alternatively, you might subtract chia seeds with flax seed powder or a nut based powder.
10% Organic Maca Powder – powerful strength and stamina enhancer, as well as adaptogen, that has the ability to balance and stabilize the glandular-hormonal system, nervous system, cardiovascular system, and musculature.
10% Organic Kale Powder – everyone is crazy about Kale these days, and for good reason. Kale is arguably “King of the leafy greens” boosting an extraordinary level of protein for a leafy green, on top of high level of iron and magnesium which many of us are depleted in.
*alternatively you might substitute Kale with another greens such as Wheatgrass / Barley Glass or include an algae source such as Spirulina or Chlorella.
5% Inulin Powder – is soluble fiber which is classed as a fructan. Fructans cannot be digested in the upper GI tract, so travel through undigested until reaching the colon, where it feeds and enhances bifidobacteria residing there. Gut flora are to a large extent our first line of immune defense, so Inulin being the preferred food source (or prebiotic) of gut flora, plays an intrinsic role in promoting healthy immune function.
*note that a lot of large food manufacturers these days (particularly yogurt makers) make “prebiotic” claims by including inulin in their foods.
5% – Coconut Oil Powder – one of the newer superfood powders to hit the market. Coconut foods are of course very popular in the market these days, so including coconut oil powder in your Complete Superfood blend, may help it stand out that little bit more in the market place.
2-3% – Medicinal Superherbs – examples may include Ashwaganda, Shilajit or Siberian Ginseng, all of which bring an element of magic and intrigue to the blend.
1% Flavoring Powder – Perhaps Organic Ground Vanilla Bean Powder, or an extract (cheaper) version of Vanilla, Mixed Berry, Banana etc.
